The Department of Sanskrit was established in the year 1989. Right from the time of its inception, the department has strived to impart value based education to the students.
We are determined to provide the necessary learning environment to create interest in Sanskrit learning and Indian culture. “Nahi Jnanena Sadrisham Pavitramiha Vidyate” - “There is nothing more sacred than knowledge” has always been our motto.

Vijaya College, Jayanagar, erstwhile BHS First Grade College took its genesis in July 1989 under the BHS Managing Committee's(now BHS Higher Education Society) holistic awning. What ideated in 1988 germinated and took form in 1989 as BHS First Grade College.
The college motto 'Excellence in education' shines bright with the students' achievements in academics and extracurricular activities. With a humble inception, brick by brick the institution set out to add value to education and purpose to the courses offered. The college offers about 12 courses in the three faculties- Humanities, Commerce and Management and Science.
